Frequently Asked Questions About Childcare Centres In Botany and Pukekohe - Learning Activities
  • šŸ“š What is your educational approach?Ā

At Treetops, we follow the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whāriki, which focuses on empowering children to learn and grow through play. Our approach is child-led and holistic, supporting each child’s unique strengths, interests, and cultural identity. We create a nurturing and stimulating environment where tamariki feel safe, valued, and encouraged to explore the world around them. We are also inspired byĀ Reggio EmiliaĀ educational philosophy and theĀ Pikler philosophy.Ā Our Philosophy Tree clearly depict these principles.

  • šŸŽ“ How do you support school readiness?

We prepare tamariki for school by building strong foundations in social, emotional, and cognitive development. Our Kaiako encourage independence, problem-solving, communication, and self-regulation - essential skills for a smooth transition to primary school. We also foster early literacy and numeracy through fun, age-appropriate activities, and our routines help children become confident, capable learners ready for the next step in their education journey.

  • šŸŽØ What types of learning experiences and activities do you provide?

At Treetops, every day is full of engaging, hands-on learning! Our programmes include creative arts, music and movement, science experiments, gardening, storytelling, water and sand play, outdoor adventures, and cultural celebrations. We offer both structured and free-play opportunities that encourage curiosity, creativity, and collaboration - helping children discover and grow at their own pace.

Frequently Asked Questions About Childcare Centres In Botany and Pukekohe - Parent Communication and Support
  • šŸ§‘ā€šŸ¤ā€šŸ§‘ How do you communicate with whānau/parents?

We prioritise communication and transparency. At our Botany centres, we connect with parents through the EDUCA platform, while at our Pukekohe centre, we utilise the HOME platform. These platforms serve as comprehensive communication tools, providing access to all your child's learning stories, updates, and more. Parents can always reach us by contacting us directly on our telephone or via email. Additionally, we use Facebook to share weekly updates regarding our tamariki's activities.

  • šŸ“ Do you provide daily updates on my child’s progress?

Our Kaiako always try to be available for a quick catch up at drop off or pick up if needed. If it is something urgent, our centre managers are also available to catch up with you.

Frequently Asked Questions About Childcare Centres In Botany and Pukekohe - Settling In Daily Routines
  • šŸ¤— How will you help my child settle in?

Depending on your child’s age, we recommend that they have short transition visits before they officially start. During the 30–40-minute transition visit(s), teachers will spend time with you and your child to establish a familiarity, reinsurance of a safe environment and bond. Once you’ve enrolled, we will discuss and schedule the appropriate time and amount of transition visits, suitable for you as parents. We encourage our parents to take the time to ask questions and get to know our teachers as well.

  • šŸ‘‹ How can I make goodbyes easier for my child?

This topic is always sensitive and challenging, as we understand how difficult it can be for new parents to part from their child during the first few days. We empathise with you and are here to support you. We advise that, although it may seem sudden, but it’ll be best if you enter the room, place your child's bag in their locker, offer a cuddle, say 'goodbye, I love you, and I'll be back to pick you up soon', and then exit the room. You are welcome to stop by the office for moral support, we understand.

    Ā

Our teachers will share photos or updates for the first couple of days. Prolonging your stay in the room during drop-off can make the separation more difficult for both you and your child. The sooner they are engaged with other children and activities, the quicker they will settle in and feel comfortable.

  • šŸŽ’ What does my child need to bring each day?

We recommend packing the following, where applicable:

    • Formula milk (if applicable)
    • Nappies (if applicable)
    • 2-3 pairs of spare clothes
    • Something warm for those unexpected chilly days.
    • Water Bottle (to stay at centre)
    • Raincoat
    • Sun Hat

  • 🚽 Can you assist with toilet training?
